Movies are great. We can watch them in our spare time and have fun while also learning something. They can be educational, or artistic, or dramatic, or everything together. Tech geeks love their tech movies. But what if you don’t know which movie you would like to see. Here is a list of the 10 best movies for tech geeks.

Any (Modern) James Bond Movie

You are bound to see some great gadgets in Bond movies developed by Q and used by Bond. They are ludicrous in most ways so do not attempt to recreate any of them in your spare time.

The Social Network

Facebook is a huge company and the founding of such a company should interest almost any tech geek. Also, Jesse Eisenberg does a wonderful job at playing the Zuck.

Iron Man

Ah, Tony Stark played by Robert Downey Junior, is there a better combo? Yes, the Avengers are great, but it really started with this movie and that is where you should start.

The Truman Show

Jim Carrey did some of his best acting here and this movie will have you asking questions for a while.

The Matrix

This movie, too, will have you asking lots of questions about the reality you live in, or you assume to live in. The Matrix started a cult and a trend in movies and video games, changing how we think about the world. It also gave birth to a lot of memes.

Avatar

Visiting another planet, check? Learning the natives’ language? Check. Transferring your consciousness into the body of a native while regaining your legs in that body? Check. This is one of those movies which is not only sci-fi, but takes it to another level, one still not really surpassed, even though it was released in 2009.

Gattaca

In a world where most people are born with the aid of genetic modification, Ethan Hawke’s character was born naturally, without any mods. Who is better, who is in the right?

Minority Report

A crime is to be committed so special officers are dispatched to stop it and arrest the person responsible before it happens. Then, one of the officiers is accused and things go really bad really quickly.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day

It is still, to this day, the best Terminator movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong have done something wonderful in that movie. Let’s not forget Robert Patrick as the antagonist.

These are the 10 best movies every tech geek should watch, unless they already have. If they haven’t, then time shouldn’t be wasted and movies should be put in a queue. A marathon, or two smaller marathons, but they definitely should be watched.
